Manchester United have identified their replacement for Radamel Falcao with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski emerging as their number one target. When Falcao’s loan deal expires it’s understood Manchester United won’t be taking up the opportunity to sign him on a permanent deal. According to the Daily Mail they will instead move for Lewandowski who has reportedly struggled to settle since joining Bayern Munich last summer. The Poland international has scored 16 goals in 32 appearances for club and country this season.
Manchester United will also be signing Nigel De Jong according to Italian website Calcio Mercato. The AC Milan midfielder, who played for Manchester City and is perhaps best known for his horrendous chest-high challenge in the 2010 World Cup final, will be a free agent in the summer. It’s reported that the 30-year-old Netherlands international has shunned a move to Ajax and has already opened pre-contract talks at Old Trafford.
Arsenal’s hopes of signing Jackson Martinez look to have improved. The Colombian striker is reportedly seen as a ‘marquee’ signing by Arsene Wenger and his current club Porto have signalled he will be sold in the summer. “Jackson almost left last summer but we agreed he’d stay one more year,” revealed club president Pinto da Costa. “If somebody pays [his value] he will go.”

A potential move to Real Madrid for David De Gea remains on. It was recently confirmed that Manchester United and the goalkeeper had opened talks over a new contract, but according to Spanish newspaper AS the 24-year-old has demanded a release-clause. It’s reported United are willing to put one in, but at around £40m. It remains to be seen if any suitors would be willing to pay that much.
