Sh19m underwear vanish in JKIA

Underwear Underwear worth more than Sh19 million vanished from a JKIA depot and were found in Nakuru recently. Trial is set to begin for a Nakuru businessman who allegedly stole the underwear that include lingerie, bras, G-strings as well as men’s boxers. John Wambua Mwangi denied in front of a city court that he stole the goods for sale on June 6 and 7. The imported cargo belongs to Evanson Gitonga, 34, who operates an underwear shop at IBEA building on Moi Avenue. When Mwangi appeared in court on June 30, the police asked for more time to find out how he allegedly sneaked the items out of Nairobi. Wambua allegedly stole bras worth Sh2.6 million, panties and G-strings worth Sh4.6 million, men’s socks worth Sh1.8 million, children’s underwear worth Sh1.2 million, ladies swimming costumes and tights worth Sh856,000, men boxers and briefs worth Sh1.8 million, and blindfolds worth Sh1.1 million. The imported clothes amount to Sh19,677,211 million, the court heard.
